Cedar Park lots fall away. As you move west and north the ground drops toward the creeks, and the backyards that come with those lots are half slope and half live oak. That is exactly the situation a deck solves better than anything else, and elevated deck building is most of what we do out here.
Decks we build in Cedar Park
- Elevated decks. The right answer on a lot that drops away behind the house. Instead of a narrow strip of usable yard you get a full room at the level of your back door.
- Multi-level decks. Where the grade falls a long way, stepping the deck down in two or three levels beats one tall platform. It costs less in railing, and it gives you separate spaces for eating and sitting.
- Cedar decks. The Cedar Park favourite. Handles the heat, takes stain beautifully, stays cooler underfoot than composite in August. Roughly $50 to $75 per square foot installed.
- Pressure-treated pine decks. Same framing standards and hardware, lower material cost. Roughly $30 to $45 per square foot installed.
- Composite and PVC decks. No staining, ever. Roughly $60 to $100 per square foot installed.
- Covered decks. A deck and a cover framed as one structure, so the posts carry the roof properly rather than being bolted on later.

Building on a Cedar Park slope
Elevation is the biggest cost driver, not square footage
This surprises people. A 300-square-foot deck eighteen inches off the ground and the same deck eight feet up are completely different builds: taller posts, bigger footings, engineered beam spans, and code-required railing on every exposed edge. If you are comparing quotes across a sloped lot, make sure everyone is quoting the same height, because that is where the money is.
Limestone and caliche
West of Cedar Park you hit rock, sometimes not far down. That is good news structurally, because rock does not move the way clay does. It is harder news for the crew, because footings occasionally need different equipment to get to depth. We would rather find that at the estimate than discover it on build day, so we probe before quoting.
Live oaks
Some of the best backyards in Cedar Park have a mature oak sitting exactly where the deck wants to go. We work around this constantly. Usually the answer is shifting the footing layout or cantilevering the framing so the deck reaches past the tree without putting a pier through its root zone. Cutting a generous opening around the trunk and letting the tree come up through the deck is often the best-looking version of the whole project.
Drainage down a slope
Water moving downhill will find the low side of your deck. We look at where it currently runs before setting posts, and we keep the framing clear of the path rather than damming it and rotting the structure from underneath.
Cedar Park neighborhoods we build in
We build decks across Buttercup Creek, Twin Creeks, Anderson Mill, Cypress Creek, Carriage Hills, Reagan’s Overlook, Block House Creek, Brushy Creek, Forest Oaks, and Ranch at Brushy Creek, plus the rest of northwest Travis and Williamson counties.
Steep lot, rock, or an oak in the way? That is a normal Tuesday for us. Cedar Park terrain scares off some crews. It is just part of the project here.
Start my Cedar Park deck →What a deck build actually involves
- Free on-site estimate. John walks the yard, measures the fall, checks what's under the soil, and writes a line-itemed quote.
- HOA and permits. Most Cedar Park subdivisions require architectural review. We prepare the submission and pull City of Cedar Park permits where the build needs them.
- Footings and framing. Engineered for the actual grade, with correct ledger flashing and hardware rated for treated lumber.
- Decking, railings, and finish. Boards, railings, stairs, skirting, and stain or sealer.
- Cleanup and walkthrough. Everything hauled off, and we walk the finished deck with you.
Most Cedar Park deck builds run one to three weeks. Elevated and multi-level builds sit at the longer end. You get progress photos by text every day it's worked on.

How much does a deck cost in Cedar Park, TX?
Pressure-treated pine runs about $30 to $45 per square foot installed, cedar $50 to $75, and composite or PVC $60 to $100. On Cedar Park's sloped lots, height off grade usually moves the price more than square footage does, because an elevated deck needs taller posts, larger footings and far more railing. We measure the fall on site before quoting.
Can you build a deck on a steep Cedar Park lot?
Yes, and it's a good share of what we build here. We engineer the footings for the actual grade and build out over the slope rather than fighting it, using multi-level designs where the ground falls a long way. It usually turns the least usable part of the yard into the best part of the house.
Can you build around a live oak?
Usually, and it often makes the project better. The approach is to shift the footing layout or cantilever the framing so no pier goes through the root zone, then cut a generous opening and let the trunk come up through the deck. We sort this out at the estimate rather than discovering it mid-build.
Do you handle Cedar Park HOA approval and permits?
Yes. Most Cedar Park subdivisions require architectural review before a deck goes in, and several have specific rules on height, materials and rear setbacks. We prepare and submit the full packet as part of the project, and pull City of Cedar Park permits when the structure requires them.
How long does a Cedar Park deck build take?
One to three weeks on site for most builds, with elevated and multi-level decks at the longer end. From signing, work usually starts within 2 to 4 weeks depending on HOA approval and material lead times. We text progress photos every day it's worked on.
